Leadership is a role we frequently perform. We are always modeling appropriate or inappropriate leadership. Sometimes I think we are “playing” leader and have not really developed our character fully. At times, I come away from training opportunities thinking, “Lord, help me to be gracious with my words.”
I believe, at times, our passion gets in the way of graciousness – we are going after fulfillment of the goal and forget to be kind to others on the way. It’s quite possible many of us behave in unseemly ways at times. What’s that old adage about honey attracting worker bees? If we want to successfully help others make money online, it will be directly connected with our ability to be a great leader.
Maybe we are consumed with the Leadership Role? Maybe it has gone to our head and we have forgotten that not all of us will be at the same place at the same time. Leadership is extremely important! I want to do it right and I know that it is a growing edge – for me, the challenging question remains, “Where does the role end and I begin?” In other words, in the end all we have is who we are – our character, our abilities, and our opportunities – just for a time to make a difference.
I read somewhere that whenever we base our identity or worth as a person on our role as a leader, we are betraying ourselves and missing the best that is out there for us. We are so much more than our role as leaders!! We are valuable and each of you is important to me. We shape and form one another – maybe if we are not careful, our passion for leadership will result in warped characters?
Obviously, for me, Leadership is a God-given gift – one we are to treasure and nurture and develop in healthy ways not in unhealthy and destructive ways. We do not own our talents and abilities – they are just on loan to us to use to make for a better world.
Leadership is modeled; it is so much more than demands and expectations that others become and do and act how we say that should. I want the best for everyone – I am a cheerleader who, at times, shows appropriately how to be a leader. The way I look at leadership, we are all winners – some have a gift for leadership and others of us, must learn how to be a leader!
